Zomato celebrates the spirit of gully cricket

As cricket fever grips the nation, Zomato, India’s food ordering and delivery platform, is celebrating the game the way most Indians have always known it. Not in packed stadiums, but in narrow lanes and in open grounds, with rubber balls and makeshift stumps. Zomato has launched a new campaign in collaboration with Gully Cricket, a digital-first content platform dedicated to the spirit of street cricket.

The Instagram-first campaign taps into a simple but powerful truth: cricket in India is not confined to any one format or any one ground. From a mountain road to a flooded lane, Indians find a way to play. It is a celebration of the unfiltered, passionate, and deeply nostalgic world of gully cricket, brought to life during one of the biggest sporting seasons in the country.

At the heart of the campaign is a series of reels featuring teams of five playing street cricket across real locations, shot raw and without production frills. The footage is paired with match-style context with text supers, scores, and player references, thereby blurring the line between the grandeur of professional cricket and the chaos of a local gully match. The result is content that is equal parts thrilling and deeply relatable for Indian audiences.

The first three reels from the campaign are now live on Zomato's official Instagram page, with more content planned across the cricket season.
