Simple Energy, a home-grown automotive company built on in-house R&D and first-principles engineering, today announced the launch of the Simple Wave, marking its entry into India’s family scooter segment. Designed around the way Indian families use their scooters every day, the Simple Wave brings together practicality, technology and comfort in a six-model lineup (3 variants), with up to 243 km IDC range. The scooter offers a class-leading storage space of up to 70 litres. This comprises the Pill, a first-of-its-kind auxiliary storage compartment with a capacity of 4 litres, an industry-leading under-seat compartment with a capacity of up to 63 litres, and a convenient 3-litre glove box, making it well-suited to the needs of Indian families.
The new lineup includes Simple Wave S, Simple Wave and Simple Wave +, further offering 5 models under this lineup. The diverse portfolio allows customers to choose between different battery capacities, display technologies and connected features based on their riding requirements. Leading the range is the Simple Wave +, powered by a 5 kWh battery pack that delivers an IDC range of 243 km and a top speed of 90 km/h. The scooter is equipped with a 6.4 kW PMSM motor, producing 179 Nm wheel torque. The lineup is also offered with 3.7 kWh, 2.7 kWh, and 2.2 kWh battery configurations, delivering ranges of up to 171 km and 110 km (IDC), respectively. All variants feature multiple riding modes including Ride, Eco and ECOX, while higher variants additionally receive Sport mode for enhanced performance.

The Simple Wave is designed with practicality at its core, featuring a 1347 mm wheelbase and a payload capacity of 150 kg. The scooter also has an IP67-rated battery pack and motor protection. The Simple Wave range is equipped with portable chargers and supports both standard and fast charging. The range-topping model supports 0-80% charging in as little as 2 hours 15 minutes using fast-charging capability, while a 750W portable charger enables convenient charging at home. Across the range, power is delivered via a PMSM motor paired with a chain-drive transmission, offering smooth acceleration and efficient performance for urban commuting.
Chassis, Suspension and Braking
Built around a tubular steel frame, the Simple Wave is underpinned by a telescopic front suspension and progressive twin rear shock absorbers, paired with 12-inch alloy wheels. Braking duties are handled by a front disc and rear drum setup supported by a Combined Braking System (CBS), while a 175 mm ground clearance, 775 mm seat height, and 300 mm water-wading capability make the scooter well-suited to a variety of urban riding conditions.
Connected Technology and Features
Depending on the variant, the scooter is offered with either a 7-inch TFT display or a 5-inch EBN display. TFT-equipped variants feature Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS tracking, call and music controls, USB charging, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. Higher variants further benefit from features such as traction control, regenerative braking, hill hold assist, reverse mode, crawl mode, and vehicle tracking functions. The package is complemented by a full-LED lighting setup comprising the headlamp, DRLs, tail lamp, and turn indicators.
The Simple Wave lineup is launched at an introductory offer, priced from INR 1,09,999. It is available for bookings across all Simple Energy touch points. As Simple Energy strengthens its product portfolio, the company is scaling its manufacturing and retail footprint. The company currently has a production capacity of 3,000 units per month and has been investing in expanding its battery manufacturing line. The company expects manufacturing capacity utilisation to increase to 75-80 per cent by the end of the next financial year, compared with about 35 per cent currently. It is currently selling around 1,500 electric scooters per month through over 75 outlets across 63 cities in India, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Patna, Nagpur, Bhopal, Agra, Goa, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, and Chennai, among others. The company plans to increase monthly sales to 10,000 units by March 2027 through capacity expansion and network growth. So far, Simple Energy has raised INR 736 Crore to date from a strong base of investors and HNIs, including Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani’s Family Office, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran Family Office, the Desai Family Office (promoters of Apar Industries), and the Vasavi Family Office. This includes the latest funding round of INR 250 crore, supporting its product development, manufacturing, and business expansion initiatives.
