EDITOR’S SYNOPSIS

·         Ambuja Cements as part of its CSR encourages the formation of youth clubs in villages like Sivan and Burj Mehma to evolve into hubs of local leadership.

·         Sports, volunteering, and health awareness replaced substance use and inactivity.

·         The initiative fostered youth-led change and inspired similar movements in neighbouring villages.

Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is encouraging young people in rural Bathinda to become active contributors to community development. As part of its CSR initiatives, structured youth clubs are transforming idle groups into active networks of local leadership in villages like Sivan and Burj Mehma.

Originally formed during local panchayat elections, these youth clubs evolved into platforms that now lead village clean-up drives, health awareness campaigns, sports tournaments and social initiatives. With training and infrastructure support from Ambuja Cements, the clubs have grown in both participation and purpose.

In Burj Mehma, the model inspired neighbouring villages form their own clubs, while in Sivan, previously disconnected youth began working together toward common goals. Open gyms installed by the company created dedicated spaces for daily fitness, interaction and continued engagement. These hubs gave young people a reason to gather, organise, and contribute meaningfully to village life.

By building safe and structured environments for youth, Ambuja Cements is helping shape a new generation of rural leaders. The initiative reflects the company’s belief that empowering young people with purpose, support and ownership can transform communities from within.
