Bukhara State Medical University of Uzbekistan (BSMI) opened its Indian Representative office  in Hyderabad at Neo Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology to increase transparency in medical education and for mutual tie ups with hospitals, institutes.

BSMI Rector Prof. S D Teshaev, International Affairs Head Dr. Elena A and Indian Representative of Uzbekistan Health Minister Dr.B.Divya Raj Reddy attended and briefed the media.

Prof. S D Teshaev, Rector said, “We are here today to inaugurate our University Indian Representative Office. We began admitting foreign students in 1990 and currently have over 2000 foreign students, including more than 1000 from India. Our university has collaborated with Dr. Divya for an extended period and relocating almost 1000 students from war-torn Ukraine to our establishment is a significant achievement. President of Uzbekistan Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Narendra Modi maintain excellent bilateral relations, and we hope to enhance our educational relationships even further. Dr. Alena, BSMI International Affairs, expressed her delight at the opening of their India Representative Office. BSMI is also working with countries such as the USA, Germany, Poland and Israel. This new office in India will provide students with excellent opportunities. BSMI is complying with the NMC norms and FMGL regulations of 2021 and is offering Indian students the chance to pursue the Indian equivalent MBBS program at BSMI. The course duration is five years, with an additional one-year internship. Graduates are eligible to practice as doctors in Bukhara State of Uzbekistan. Dr. Divya Raj Reddy, Director of Neo Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, has been appointed as the Indian Representative by the Uzbekistan Health Ministry to strengthen relations between the two countries in medical education, health, and pharma sectors. In an effort to promote affordability and transparency in foreign education, Dr. Divya convinced them to open a BSMI University office in India, earlier the Rector of Tashkent Medical Academy opened their office in Hyderabad. She said that it is important for Indian students pursuing foreign education to adhere to NMC rules and regulations, as some have been cheated in the past and misguidance by middlemen currently.

With a travel time of only two and half hours between Uzbekistan and India, more Patient-Doctor exchange programs and Equivalent MBBS programs at BSMI and TMA have been initiated. TMA and BSMI with the help of Neo Institute has signed MoUs with prominent hospitals such as Apollo, AIG, Yashoda, Sri Sri Holistic, GSL, Fortis, and Medanta. A medicine exchange program has also been initiated, with the Rector’s visit to some of the hospitals. She said, President of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has expressed interest in a joint venture in Pharma with 50 Million Dollars at Bukhara State, inviting potential pharma companies for partnership.
