The session was helmed by Dr. Smriti Ahuja, a leading trainer and communication expert whose core expertise lies in Human Resource Management, Business Studies, Organisation Behaviour, Principles of Management, Business Communication, Spoken and written English, and English Grammar and management subjects.
The session covered topics such as – unlocking dynamics of body posture, eye contact etiquettes, a factsheet on facial expressions and touched upon how to be mindful of cultural perception to identify barriers to social perception that need to be worked through.
It also discussed ‘Proxemics’ at length, which is the study of human use of space and the effects that population density has on behavior, communication, and social interaction. It is one among several subcategories in the study of nonverbal communication, including haptics (touch), kinesics (body movement), vocalics (paralanguage), and chronemics (structure of time).
Dr. Smriti Ahuja, a communication expert and a soft skills trainer, shared, “In a world where communication spaces are being defined by Zoom school, virtual meetings, limited content verbalisation, text-led interpretation and crisp insta-reel content, the in-person communication skills have gone for a toss. Hence, much is left to be desired when it comes to interpersonal skills, which are needed to navigate real-life situations. Younger students need help with nonverbal cues such as facial, head, hand, or body movements, as well as auditory, tactile, or olfactory cues, which offer rich inputs to understanding one’s behaviour and attitude towards various facets of life.”
Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Zamit, shared his thoughts on the significance and influence a session of this nature can exert on the development of young minds. He shared, “At Zamit, our commitment lies in fostering the all-encompassing growth of students and equipping them with AI-powered solutions to unlock their inherent capabilities.
