Spurious Skin Care Products Imitating ‘JOY’ Seized in Delhi Following High Court-Ordered Raids

Posted on December 30, 2025December 30, 2025 by S Joseph

In a significant enforcement action aimed at safeguarding consumers and curbing the sale of counterfeit products, three simultaneous court-appointed Local Commissions were executed today across key markets in Delhi, including two premises in Sadar Bazar and one in Dilshad Garden. The raids were conducted pursuant to an ex-parte order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in a trademark and copyright infringement suit filed by Joy Creators LLP.

Acting on the Court’s directions, the Local Commissioners carried out coordinated raids at the identified locations and uncovered large quantities of allegedly infringing cosmetic products, along with packaging materials, labels, and promotional content bearing deceptively similar branding to Joy. The seized products were found to closely imitate the trade dress and overall appearance of Joy personal care products, a brand that has been trusted by Indian consumers for several decades.

The Local Commissioners documented the seized material through detailed inventories and photographic evidence. Despite resistance at certain locations, the court-mandated process was successfully completed, and the counterfeit goods were seized and sealed in accordance with legal procedure.

The matter is now listed for further proceedings before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court. The execution of the Local Commissions marks a significant step toward curbing the circulation of counterfeit cosmetic products and protecting consumer interest.

Mr. Sunil Agarwal, Co-founder & Chairman, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global) said, “Counterfeit products violate intellectual property rights and pose serious risks to consumer safety and trust. At JOY, honesty, trust, and consumer well-being are non-negotiable, and we take the responsibility seriously that Indian households have placed in us over decades. Strict enforcement and timely legal action are essential to protect consumers and preserve brand integrity. We appreciate the decisive action taken pursuant to the Hon’ble Delhi High Court’s directions, and we will continue to support the authorities wherever required to prevent such incidents.”
