Heads Up, Hyderabad: Awareness Program Takes Aim at Head Injuries

The Department of Neurosurgery, in collaboration with the Brain and Spine Society of Hyderabad and endorsed by the Neurological Society of India, successfully organized the Head Injury Awareness Programme at Sanjeevaiah Park, Necklace Road, Hyderabad. The event, held from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, aimed to raise public awareness about the grave consequences of head injuries resulting from road accidents and promote road safety practices.

Esteemed dignitaries graced the occasion, including Shri N. Ashok Kumar (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dr. KVR Sastry, President of Brain and Spine Society of Hyderabad, Secretary of BASS, Prof. Manas Panigrahi, Prof. Suchanda Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery (NIMS Hospital), and B Sai Praneeth (Indian Badminton Player and Arjuna Awardee), alongside other eminent Neurosurgeons and Neuroscience experts.

The programme featured informative sessions conducted by experts in road safety and medical professionals, who highlighted the significant impact of head injuries on public health and safety. Interactive demonstrations and visual aids were utilized to underscore the importance of helmet and seatbelt usage in mitigating the risk of serious injury and fatality in road accidents.

Attendees actively engaged in discussions, asking questions, and receiving practical guidance on adopting safe driving practices. Local authorities and advocacy groups provided information on existing regulations and initiatives aimed at promoting road safety within the community.

Event organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants and stakeholders for their support and active participation in the event. They emphasized the importance of collective efforts in raising awareness and preventing needless tragedies on the roads. “By coming together as a community, we can create a safer environment for all road users and reduce the incidence of preventable head injuries. We urge everyone to prioritize road safety and spread awareness about the importance of responsible driving.” Brain and Spine Society of Hyderabad said.
