IRB Golconda Expressway observes January 2025 as National Road Safety Month; initiates several Road Safety Awareness Programmes

IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd., the Special Purpose Vehicle of the IRB Infrastructure Trust, India’s leading and the largest listed private infrastructure investment trust in the roads and highways sector, observed January 2025 as the National Road Safety Month, which was concluded today. The Chief General Manager, HGCL graced the occasion as Chief Guest for Valediction Function hosted by the Company at Nanakramguda Toll Plaza.

While speaking on the occasion, the Chief General Manager, HGCL stressed the strict adherence to the road safety rules for ensuring safe travel. During her address, she strongly emphasized the vital importance of following the Lane Discipline and wearing the Seat Belts, especially by the Light Motor Vehicle users. She further explained that maintaining lane discipline helps prevent disruptions, making overtaking and high-speed travel safer and stated that all drivers becoming fully aware of these regulations means all roads and highways becoming significantly safer.

Mr. Sai Manohar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) – Traffic, Cyberabad said, “Ensuring road safety is a shared responsibility, and initiatives like the National Road Safety Month by IRB Golconda Expressway play a crucial role in spreading awareness. Strict adherence to lane discipline and seat belt usage can significantly reduce accidents and make our highways safer for all.”

Mr. Balaji, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) –  Traffic, Rajendranagar said “Road safety awareness campaigns are essential in instilling discipline among motorists, and we appreciate IRB Golconda Expressway's efforts in this regard. By educating drivers and promoting responsible driving habits, we can collectively create a safer road environment.”

Mr. Niranjan Reddy, Traffic Inspector, Narsingi participated in the event.

The Company, as a part of the 36th National Road Safety Month, observed the entire January 2025 as the Road Safety Month and undertook several initiatives during the month, as narrated below, to spread awareness on road safety among the ORR users.

•             Distribution of Pamphlets on Road Safety among ORR users

•             Drivers’ education through display of Flex Banners on Road Safety across the ORR stretch

•             Drawing Competition on Road Safety for School Students, where 40 Students participated. The Company exhibited top 20 selected Drawings at the Venue.

The IRB Golconda Expressway’s Operation & Maintenance Team, Toll Plaza Staff and other Officials from various departments actively participated in the initiatives throughout the month.
